Subject: WSCC Cycling & Walking Plan Input

John Coote will be guiding us on this important task to decide how best we submit to WSCC our various cycling infrastructure schemes now that the Sustrans 'Rate' tool has been tested.

Below are the schemes that we have previously submitted to the Worthing CLC although it should be noted that - with the ongoing developments in West Durrington and the recently released proposals for the A259 between Littlehampton (initially) to Goring Crossways roundabout, we have much to consider and all comments and suggestions will be most welcome :-

  1. Elm Grove Railway Bridge : with its various potential links from the north of the town into centre and the seafront
  2. A24 : extension of the existing cycle path from Findon Valley through Findon itself to the Washington Bostal, Washington roudabout and the South Downs Way
  3. Seafront cycle Path (NCN2) : from George V Avenue to Sea Lane cafe Goring and onwards to Goring  Crosswasys
  4. Shaftesbury Avenue / Barrington Road junction redesign to provide for a  cycle path through West Park to Elm Grove
  5. Mulberry Lane to Wallace Avenue cycle path
  6. Junction redesign at Western Road

Other possible schemes include :-7 . Extension of the proposed Adur District  Lancing Industrial Parks to Page Lane East Worthing scheme west through the East Worthing business      parks utilising the Harrison Road byway to  Broadwater8. South Farm Road - Worthing Station - Station Road cycle path9. Tarring Village : various suggestions to enable cyclists to avoid the Church Road to Glebe Road roundabout section and a possible scheme for           cycling contra-flows through the High Street and south down South Street to the St. Lawrence Avenue junctionand others perhaps ? Stuart
